Based in the North East of England, we are mainly known for one of two things - being the only English club to play in Scotland and of course our historic Scottish Cup defeat of Rangers in 1967, said to be one of the biggest cup shocks in world football. We currently have two league titles to our name - Third Division 2006/7 and Second Division 1978/9. Historically, we have played our football on both sides of the border, until settling on playing in Scotland when we were elected to the SFL in 1951/52. We do, however, retain our Northumberland FA status, being the only senior league side in the region. In January 2009 the football club was subject to a take over which saw an incoming board made up of representatives of the Supporters Trust and the Supporters Club. Our football club is one of only a handful in the UK which have significant representation from supporters groups. The new ethos of the football club is to install a real community spirit into the club, bringing together local players, supporters and business people. If you'd like to get in touch with us, please do, we'd love to hear from you! |
