We left the highlands with a point from a highly entertaining game which saw six goals. Alan Brazil's 20-yard strike and Paul Currie's header put us into a 2-0 lead within 18 minutes.
But Craig Gunn scored twice for the home side to restore parity before the half-time interval.
We looked to have won it with nine minutes to go when Ian Little headed home only for Nicolson to draw Elgin level again late on.
